Club volleyball is a great opportunity to learn and grow in your volleyball skills from experienced coaches. Club builds a sense of team and helps foster confidence and a strong work ethic. Practices will be challenging but positive. Club is also a great way to get recruited if you are interested in playing college volleyball.
Tryouts are January 21st and 22nd. We realize that there are many multi-sport athletes, which we love and highly support. We will have optional open gyms/clinics in February, but the season officially runs from the end of February through the first weekend in May. Practices are twice a week for 1.5 hours, with tournaments typically on Saturdays or Sundays. Once season starts we expect players to be at practices unless they have communicated with their coach.
The fees are for facility rentals, uniforms (NOT warmups), coaching salaries, tournament registrations, region registrations, equipment, and administration fees.
We keep roster numbers low in order to provide opportunities for girls to play in tournaments, but equal practice time is what is being paid for. There is no guaranteed tournament playing time for athletes. Playing time is determined by ability, attendance, attitude, position the athlete plays and the level of tournament.
1. You will need an AAU membership before you register for tryouts. Memberships costs $16. You can get that at this link https://play.aausports.org/joinaau/multimembershipapplication.aspx. Our Club code is W38YTA
2. Once you have your AAU number, go to APEX home page and click the "REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS" button at the bottom. It is important for us to know how many girls are trying out so we can plan accordingly. Tryouts are on January 21st and 22nd at Bigfork High School.
Players will have their photo taken holding a number and what position they are trying out for when they arrive. This helps the coaching staff identify players throughout the tryout. Players will be tested on a number of specific skills and drills including passing, overhand serving, setting and hitting. We are also looking at non-verbal communication, grit, and attitude. Do you hang your head if you make a mistake, or do you shake it off? Do you encourage those around you to be better? Do you go for EVERY ball? Are you coachable? Finally, you can expect cardio and a lot of it. DIG DEEP!!!
We will email the player with a "player offer" as soon as we have made our decisions. We want players to look at the practice and tournament schedule before they commit. Once they commit we will add them to our roster. We want to make sure we take time to carefully consider what talent and attitude each athlete brings at tryouts.
Club volleyball is a great way to get recruited by colleges. Apex offers recruiting tools to help players and parents navigate the often overwhelming recruiting process. We have Hudl Assist where players can build profiles which include stats and highlight reels. Highlight reels from Hudl help capture recruiters' attention and give them the ability to see more information that helps them evaluate a player’s potential. It may seem overwhelming reading this. Don't worry, we are here to help!
