Club volleyball is a great opportunity to learn and grow in your volleyball skills from experienced coaches. Club builds a sense of team and helps foster confidence and a strong work ethic. Practices will be challenging but positive. Club is also a great way to get recruited if you are interested in playing college volleyball.

We keep roster numbers low in order to provide opportunities for girls to play in tournaments, but equal practice time is what is being paid for. There is no guaranteed tournament playing time for athletes. Playing time is determined by ability, attendance, attitude, position the athlete plays and the level of tournament.
1. You will need an AAU membership before you register for tryouts. AAU Memberships costs $20. You can get that at this link https://play.aausports.org/JoinAAU/MembershipApplication.aspx I would recommend leaving the CLUB code empty until tryouts are over and you have been accepted to a club team.
2. Once you have your AAU number, go to the Apex home page and click the "REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS" button . It is important for us to know how many girls are trying out so we can plan accordingly. Follow our Instagram page for open gym and tryout updates.
Tryouts will be 2 days. Players will have their photo taken holding a number when they arrive. This helps the coaching staff identify players throughout the tryout. Players will be tested on a number of specific skills and drills including passing, serving, setting and hitting. We are also looking at verbal and non-verbal communication, body language, grit, and attitude. Do you hang your head if you make a mistake, or do you shake it off? Do you encourage those around you to be better? Do you go for EVERY ball? Are you coachable? Finally, you can expect cardio and a lot of it. DIG DEEP!!!
After tryouts, coaches will need 3-4 days to meet and make our decisions. We will NOT have decisions made the day of tryouts. We want to make sure we take time to carefully consider what talent and attitude each athlete brings at tryouts. Once we have made decisions, we will send an email "player offer" to the parent email address on file. Please go over the entire player offer thoroughly. We want players and parents to look at the practice and tournament schedule before they commit. If you accept, you are committing to the entire tournament schedule. Once players commit we will add them to our roster. If you do not receive a player offer in your parent email, you did not make a team. We will post to Instagram once all offers have been sent and accepted. This can take up to a week. Please be patient.
It is an honor to coach your daughter. We know choosing a club is a big decision. There are many great clubs in the valley and we hope you look into each in order to make the best decision for your family. Thank you for all the time you have spent and will continue to spend investing in your daughter's future.
We are thankful to have had great parent support at Apex Volleyball Academy. Every coach at Apex ABSOLUTELY LOVES to coach. Please help us keep it that way. Our goal is to guide these young women in the game of volleyball and give them life tools that they can use into adulthood. It is our responsibility to help them understand that the good of the team is always the priority, and our focus does not revolve around a single player or "playing time." You are their first and foremost example of what "coach support" looks like. Our expectation is that parents reinforce the team-first focus. Parents see one piece of a puzzle. Coaches are looking at the whole puzzle, so our perspectives will look very different at times. We encourage players to bring questions or concerns directly to their coach in preparation for the real world. Let's work together to have a great season and continue to be classy on the court and in the stands!
Club volleyball is a great way to get recruited by colleges. Apex offers recruiting tools to help players and parents navigate the often overwhelming recruiting process. We have Hudl where players can build profiles which include stats and highlight reels. Players can use highlight reels from Hudl to capture recruiters' attention and help to evaluate a player’s potential. We also offer guidance to athletes in our program about keys to contacting coaches, communication in recruiting and other important aspects of getting a college coaches attention.
